Solferino
38 Wellington Street East Map it!
Toronto, ON M5E 1C7
416 364 8478
Recently opened (spring 2005) in the
Saint-Lawrence / Old Town area, Solferino
makes an
already yummy neighbourhood even
yummier! About 20
different ice cream flavours, mostly fruit-
based,
are on display: from the classic flavours
(vanilla, coconut,
pineapple, lemon), to the unusual
(mango,
guava, blackberry, passion fruit, anise...) to
the
rare
(lulo or guanabana -- two south-American
fruits).
The chocolate-date may sound attractive,
but it's
really chocolate ice cream with dates
chunks; not
quite what it sounds like. Solferino ice
creams
are smooth and flavourful, and, at $4.25 for
a
medium size (with three flavours), the
prices are
in the reasonable for this quality.

Overpriced, gooey and stingy. Dissappointed in serving size for price and the overdose of sugar vs flavour. I knew I should have stopped at the Dominion up the street! Never again.

Tasted great, really stingy on the serving size. Once you lost the void space, the cup was only a little more than 3/4 full. Others serve you an overflowing cup.
